Description:
Lacy Dogs were created for the express purpose of finding and baying wild hogs. Developed in the Hill Country, a Lacy Dog should have all the skills and traits necessary to excel at hunting in our area. They have the high drive and high energy needed to hunt all day. When it comes to conformation, form follows function. They should be 18 to 21 inches, 30 to 50 pounds, lean yet balanced, the perfect size and build to work in the rough terrain of the Hill Country.
Preservation:
Though these dogs excelled at hunting and working on ranches for over a century, modernization has been tough on the Lacy. Too many breeders have started churning out puppies to be pets, looking at nothing besides color and papers, completely neglecting working ability. At Monteria Kennels, we are working to change that. Our goal is to preserve their original purpose and produce the best Lacy hog dogs possible.
The National Lacy Dog Association is committed to preserving and promoting the Lacy Dog as a true working breed. They are the only Lacy Dog association that requires all breeders work their dogs before breeding. We're a founding member and currently serve on the Board of Directors.
